A Golden Branding Opportunity:
$25,000 in Marketing and Branding Services Awarded To Local Optometrist
March 13, 2009, Denver, CO – Table Mountain Vision Clinic, an optometry practice based in Golden has been awarded a $25,000 branding and marketing package by Denver’s Making the Brand
Kandra Churchwell of Phases Design Studio, one of the 3 contest Presenters, is excited to get started on the project. “Table Mountain Vision Clinic is a fantastic small business – just what we were looking for. They’re a very promising company with a great business model, big plans for the future and their excitement about the branding process is very encouraging.”
Table Mountain Vision Clinic’s owner, Kelley Jackson Condon, has been an optometrist for 15 years. After working at other clinics for several years, her enthusiasm for providing top-notch patient service prompted her to hang out her own shingle. Table Mountain Vision Clinic has been serving the Golden Community since 1998, providing eye exams, glasses and contacts with an emphasis on personalized service and community involvement.
“One of the purposes of our contest is to give something back to the local business community who’ve supported us,” says Travitt Hamilton of The Write Stuff, a messaging and communications company. “So when we choose a winner, one of the main elements we look for is a commitment to the local community and to supporting the local economy. Table Mountain Vision Clinic really exemplifies that principal for us. They’re deeply involved in local charity work. Kelley is the President of the Golden Chamber of Commerce. She works with Original Shopping Districts to preserve the local color and character of our regional downtown shopping areas. So besides the fact that Table Mountain Vision Clinic is just a great business, we really felt like we connected with her on that level too.”
Besides her involvement in the local business community, Jackson Condon and Table Mountain Vision Clinic sponsor teams for the Muscular Dystrophy Walk, and for Relay for Life – an overnight benefit to raise money to cure breast cancer.
When asked how she feels the branding process will impact her business and its community activities, Jackson Condon says, “The more consistently presented and better known our brand is, the easier it will be for us to recruit volunteers and solicit donations. When you’re asking people to donate their time and money, they have to trust you that the donation is going where you say it’s going. One of the reasons I’m so excited about this prize is that it will help us build up that kind of trust and emotional connection to the Golden volunteer community.”
Table Mountain Vision Clinic’s grand prize package includes logo and tag line development, collateral design, copywriting, market research and a marketing plan. The package may also include Search Engine Optimization, professional photography, print services, video and branded promotional products, as deemed necessary by the Presenters.
Beth Boen of CreativeXchange Marketing (www.creativexchangemarketing.com) says “We were impressed with the level of commitment and preparation Kelley brought to the contest. We’re really looking forward to working with her on some exciting marketing strategies and tactics to improve her visibility and to boost her business. We also want to make sure she can continue to do good work in our community. Businesses like Kelley’s, who make community involvement an important part of their model, need to be supported. They make all of our lives better.”
One of Jackson Condon’s other main branding goals is to extend Table Mountain Vision Clinic’s visibility and reach beyond Golden. “We’re pretty well-known locally, but now we’re looking to improve our outreach to the other western suburbs as well. We also just moved into a new building and so we need to incorporate that into our marketing too.”
Denver’s Making the Brand was founded in 2008 to educate Denver’s small business community about the power of a strong brand and effective marketing. Each year, one small business in the 7-county Denver Metro area is selected as a showcase project for the services offered by the Presenters and sponsors.
